DiabeticDiscussion.com Opens Communications Between Diabetics
Christopher Berry was first diagnosed with juvenile diabetes in 1977 at the age of three. Today, at age 32, he has launched a website to open communications among diabetics and people are quickly starting to add to the discussion treads.
Berry is quick to point out that the site is not intended to give medical advise, diagnosis, or treatment for diabetes. It is designed to allow those suffering with the disease to chat with others. "The goal of DiabeticDiscussion.com is to educate people on diabetes and at the same time allow others to benefit by talking amongst themselves regarding the disease," he explained.
Wide Array of Subjects Covered
Although the site is new and only has 55 members, the number of visitors is growing rapidly. As of September 21, 2006, the site features 149 threads with a total of 886 posts in subjects ranging form general information to nutrition and stem cell research.
As a complement to diabetic discussion, Berry has started diabeticlive.com - a site dedicated to articles about various aspects of the disease. He is inviting writers to post articles and read articles by other writers in the hope of promoting education to everyone touch by diabetes.
Suite 101 and Diabetic Discussion to Link Up
In the future, the Suite 101 heart disease and diabetes discussion page, diabetes live, and diabetes discussion hope to share information and work together to further enhance communication concerning the disease that is quickly escalating to epidemic proportions.
Christopher Berry and I both invite you to share your experiences and knowledge - we welcome suggestions for articles, ways of promoting healthy lifestyles, and anything else that you think would help others in managing or preventing diabetes.
Please e-mail me at healthdiseasediabetes@suite101.com or Christopher at info@diabeticdiscussion.com with your ideas and suggestions.
With diabetes, like so many other things, knowledge is power - and the key to knowledge is education.
